Who is J.B.?
J.B. is a SAG-AFTRA actor, writer, improviser, and comedian based in Los Angeles
J.B. has performed in a multitude of mediums including film, TV, and stage. Some of his favorite credits include Jimmy Kimmel Live, To Tell the Truth, Gentlemen's Fury (dark comedy), Cabaret, Matilda, and national commercials for KFC's Kentucky Buckets campagin and Southwest Air's "Wanna Get Away?" campaign. He has also performed improv comedy all over town with multiple independent teams (Invasion of Privacy, My Dad's Chili, The Show That Shall Not Be Named).
J.B. continues to hone his craft, studying at Identity School of Acting, Groundlings and iOWest, among others.
Prior to moving to LA, J.B. had a 10 year career as a Sports Broadcaster at WIBW-TV in Topeka, Kansas.
Background:
A native of Topeka, Kansas, J.B. Bauersfeld grew up a happy, albeit mischievous youth. The result of what was likely undiagnosed ADHD, J.B. found as many activities as possible to keep himself busy. This practice of staying occupied to keep out of trouble continued during his days at Highland Park High. He was involved in basketball, football, soccer, track, forensics, band, theater, and somehow even found time to study.
At Emporia State University, J.B.'s love for people and language led him to major in Communication; while his love of sport steered him onto the basketball team. Though he never earned an all conference honor on the court, J.B. DID win numerous awards in the University sponsored karaoke/lip syncing contests. Following graduation with a BFA in 2003, he transitioned toward his next journey: Sports Broadcasting.
After cutting his teeth as a news photographer for a year and a half, J.B. was promoted to the (not really) enviable position of Weekend Sports Anchor at a small market TV station. After two and a half more years, he became the Sports Director at WIBW. His time and expertise in the field gave him great opportunities to attend amazing sporting events (Bowl Games, Final Fours, All Star Games) and travel to awesome locales (Miami, Phoenix, San Antonio, Omaha [yes Omaha]), but something seemed to be missing. So J.B. decided it was time for a change after 10 years in local TV sports.
He missed creating characters; entertaining people with more than highlights, stats, and one-liners. J.B. dove back into acting on stage at Topeka Civic Theatre. Following his exposure at TCT, J.B. took the big leap and moved to Los Angeles where he currently resides.
In his spare time, J.B. tries to do as much as he can with every day (the ADHD never really went away). He loves playing tennis, disc golf, hiking, paintball, attending concerts, watching movies, traveling, riding his bike, and finding fun ways to stay fit.
